ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The University of New Mexico track and field schedule has been finalized for the 2018-19 season and includes five indoor meets in Albuquerque and an outdoor home meet.
UNM has several familiar meets from the 2017-18 season, making return appearances at the Boston University Invitational, the Husky Classic, the Stanford Invitational and the Bryan Clay Invitational.
The Lobos open up the indoor season on Dec. 1 with the Boston University Invitational.
To start the new year, the Cherry and Silver host four meets in-a-row, starting with the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Collegiate Invitational on Jan. 18 that continues on Jan. 19. The next weekend, the Lobos host the New Mexico Collegiate Team Invitational on Jan. 26. In the beginning of February, the home stand continues with the New Mexico Collegiate Classic from Feb. 1 to Feb. 2. Finally, UNM hosts the Don Kirby Collegiate Elite Invitational from Feb. 8 to Feb. 9.
Also taking place on the same weekend of the Don Kirby is the Washington Husky Classic.
The Lobos return home to host the Mountain West Conference Indoor Championship from Feb. 22-24.
The indoor season concludes at the NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship on the weekend of the March 8, held in Birmingham, Ala.
UNM will have two weeks off before the outdoor season starts on March 23 at the Arizona State Invitational. The Lobos will once again split up for the next meet on the weekend of March 29 with the Stanford Invitational and the Cal State Fullerton Titan Team Challenge.
The lone outdoor meet for the Lobos will be on Saturday, April 6 with the Don Kirby Tailwind Invitational.
To close out the month of April and the outdoor regular season, UNM will travel to Azusa, Calif., for the Bryan Clay Invitational on April 19 and the Desert Heat Classic in Tucson, Ariz., on April 27.
From Wednesday, May 8 to Saturday, May 11, the Lobos will compete in the Mountain West Conference Championships at Fresno State. Twelve days later is the qualifying for the NCAA Championship at the NCAA West Preliminary Round held at Sacramento State, which goes from May 23-25.
The NCAA Championship will be held in Austin, Texas from June 5 through June 8.
