Lobo Pride Episode 4: Teton Saltes

LOBO PRIDE

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Teton Saltes was a star in basketball at Valley High School in Albuquerque, but he soon became a star on the football field.  A tall, rangy and talented defensive lineman who was still raw, had all the tools.  The NFL could call.  Major schools were after him to come play.  But Saltes, who moved to Albuquerque as a kid, decided to come to UNM and extend his stay.

Lobo Football is better for it.  Albuquerque is better for it.  And in the not too distant future, Native American law might be better off for it.  Saltes, a member of the Lakota Tribe, has his eyes and sights set on earning a law degree.  He understands to better affect change for Native Americans, including his own Lakota Tribe, laws must be changed.  Ont he way to getting that law degree to help protect his people, he switched from defensive line to offensive line, and despite just being on offense for about 14 months, he has the eyes of NFL scouts and the rest of the Mountain West on him for his maturity and talent.
