CARROLLTON, Texas — The University of New Mexico men’s golf team is set to compete in the Maridoe Intercollegiate hosted by North Texas on Saturday, October 6 through Monday, October 8 in Carrollton, Texas. The tournament will kick off Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the 7,300 yard, par-71 course at the Maridoe Golf Club.

The field for this weekend’s tournament consists of 14 teams including Arkansas, Boise State, Coastal Carolina, Houston, Indiana, New Mexico, North Florida, North Texas, Rice, SMU, Tennessee, Texas A&M, UT Arlington and UTSA.
The Lobos enter the tournament coming off a fifth-place finish at the William H. Tucker Intercollegiate at the UNM Championship Course on September 28 and 29. The team shot a combined score of one under, 863, and finished just three strokes behind fourth-place Arkansas. UNM turned in low-round score of 277 (-11) in round two of the tournament, improving a total of strokes from round one.
Freshman Sam Choi led the Lobos in the home competition, finishing tied for fourth overall with a three-round score of 211 (-5). Senior Sean Carlon posted the second-best score on the team, shooting a one over, 217 and landing in a tie for 19th overall. Just one stroke behind and leading UNM’s individuals was junior Sam Dickey who recorded a 218 (+1) on the weekend.
This weekend’s hosting team, North Texas, competed against the Lobos earlier this month at the Trinity Forest Invitational in Dallas, Texas. It’s top player, Thomas Rosenmueller, took first place overall in the competition after shooting a 13 under, 200. As a team, North Texas landed a fifth place finish in the tournament, just two places ahead of the Lobos.
The teams will tee off round one at the Maridoe Intercollegiate on Saturday at 8:30 a.m., followed by round two on Sunday and round three on Monday.
