ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.—  After two weeks at No. 3 and a successful weekend at the Mountain West Cross Country Championships that resulted in the University of New Mexico women’s cross country team winning its 11th-straight MW championship, the Lobos are back at the top of the USTFCCCA National Coaches’ Poll released on Tuesday.

The No. 1 ranking marks the fifth time this season that UNM has been ranked first, with the Lobos previously ranked atop of the poll in the first four polls of the season.

Four of the teams received first-place votes, which is the highest amount of schools that split the 11 first-place votes to date this season.

The Lobos received 319 votes and six first-place votes to move up two spots into the No. 1 ranking, an improvement of six votes and four first-place votes from week five’s poll on Oct. 16.

Oregon also moved up two spots in the ranking into the No. 2 spot with 312 points and two first-place votes after winning the Pac-12 Championships.

Boise State fell one place in the poll to third, receiving 308 points and two first-place votes, after finishing second in the MW championship behind UNM.

Receiving the final first-place vote in the week six poll was previously ranked No. 1 Colorado, dropping three spots and tallying 305 points, following a second-place team finish at the Pac-12 Championships.

Rounding out the top five in the ranking and holding steady at No. 5 was Arkansas, receiving 288 votes.

Stanford remained at No. 6 and Big Ten champion, Michigan, held at No. 7, as did No. 8 Villanova and No. 9 BYU. Michigan State improved four spots in the rankings to rank 10th.

Up next for the UNM cross country team is the NCAA Mountain Region Championships on Friday, Nov. 9 in Provo, Utah.
