Teacher Appreciation Night Saturday vs. Fresno St.
ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — As a part of the Extra Yard for Teacher’s Initiative in college football, The University of New Mexico will hold Teacher Appreciation Night on October 20 as the Lobos host Fresno State at 5:30 pm at Dreamstyle Arena. The game is being broadcast on ESPNU.
Lobo Athletics will be giving away $50 gift cards for classroom purchases, along with a gift bag, to 50 teachers. Fans are asked to go on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook and nominate their favorite teachers, using the hashtag #GoLobos. Teachers can also nominate themselves by describing what they would use the gift cards for. Along with the gift cards and gift bags, these 50 teachers will receive free tickets to the game (along with a plus one) and a free tailgate and tour of the facilities. All 50 teachers will be recognized on the field as well. Three additional teachers will be chosen to receive a $1,000 gift card for their classrooms.
Fans have until the end of the workday, Thursday, October 18 to nominate a favorite teacher.
Regardless of whether or not a teach is selected, Lobo Athletics wants to show all our teachers that they are valued. With that, all teachers, students and their families will receive a 40% discount on tickets. Using the link https://unmtickets.com/fb_10-20_edu/ or by using the promo code EDUCATION.
“Teachers in New Mexico are some of the hardest-working members of our community, and their job is so important,” said Jon Washington, UNM Athletics’ Marketing Director. Washington worked with the NCAA to get a grant to help get the promotion off and running. “We are excited to be able to do this for teachers throughout the state of New Mexico. As a native New Mexican, I know the impact great teachers can have.”
