CARROLLTON, TEXAS — Senior Augustin Holé of The University of New Mexico men’s golf team leads the way for UNM after one round of play on Saturday at the Maridoe Intercollegiate hosted by North Texas. He is currently tied for 10th overall and leads the Lobos, who wrapped up round one in 11th place out of 14 squads.
Holé posted four birdies and eight pars on the day and recorded a score of 72 (-2) in round one, putting him just three strokes out of first place. Coming in four strokes behind was freshman Ignacio Arcaya who shot a six over, 76 and is sitting tied for 41st. Senior Sean Carlon led the team in pars (11) and shot a first-round score of 79 (+9).
Sophomore Galven Green shot eight over, 78 and recorded nine pars on the day. Also recording nine pars was freshman Sam Choi who wrapped up round one with a score of 82 (+12).
As a team, UNM posted a 305 (+25) in the round and finished up just two strokes behind ninth-place Houston and UTSA (tied). North Texas leads the tournament after round one with a score of six over, 286 followed by SMU which shot a 287 (+7).
Round two is set to kick off on Sunday at 8:30 a.m., followed by the third and final round on Monday.
