ALBUQUERQUE, N.M.— The University of New Mexico men’s golf team is set to return home this weekend as the Lobos host the Annual William H. Tucker Intercollegiate Friday, September 28 and Saturday, September 29 at the UNM South Championship Course.
The Lobos will take to the 7555-yard, par-72 course on Friday morning at 7:30 a.m. in a shotgun start of round one. Friday will include the first two rounds followed by the third and final round on Saturday, set to begin at 8 a.m., also with a shotgun start.
Fans will be able to follow all of the action of the 2018 William H. Tucker Intercollegiate LIVE via LIVE STATS. Fans are also encouraged to come out to the course to cheer on the Lobos.
The 17-team field includes five Mountain West opponents including Air Force, Colorado State, San Diego State, UNLV and Wyoming. Teams also competing in the action include Arkansas, BYU, Coastal Carolina, Colorado, Denver, Loyola Marymount, Nebraska, New Mexico State, UT-Arlington, Pepperdine and UTEP.
The Lobos enter the tournament coming off of the Trinity Forest Invitational hosted by SMU earlier this week. Senior Sean Carlon led UNM with a three-round score of 207, good for six under par. Carlon paced the Lobos shooting a 69 in round one, a 70 in round two and a tournament-low 68 in the final round on Tuesday.
As a team, the Lobos finished seventh with a combined team score of 848 (-4). In addition to Carlon’s outstanding performance, sophomore Galven Green tied for 21st on the tournament, finishing one under. He also registered 12 birdies in the three-day competition, just one less than Carlon’s 13.
The tournament kicks off Friday at 7:30 a.m. with two straight rounds before the Lobos and the rest of the field tee off on Saturday morning at 8 a.m.
