DALLAS, Texas — The University of New Mexico men’s golf team finished the Trinity Forest Invitational hosted by SMU in seventh place out of 13 teams on Tuesday after three days and three rounds of play. Senior Sean Carlon finished tied for 10th overall with a final score of 207 (-6) to lead the Lobos.

As a team, the Lobos finished (-4) with a final score of 848 for the seventh-place finish. Baylor claimed the overall tournament victory with a final score of 824 (-28), followed by SMU in second (825; -27) and College of Charleston (833; -19).
Carlon led the way for the Lobos shooting a 69 in round one, a 70 in round two and a tournament-low 68 in the final round on Tuesday. He was followed by sophomore Galven Green who shot a 212 (-1) overall, putting him tied for 21st. Green posted 12 birdies in the tournament, just one shy of Carlon who put up a total of 13.
Redshirt-sophomore Ross Sinclair and freshman Sam Choi finished tied for third for the Lobos, tied for 35th overall. Both shot a 215 (+2). The pair was tied after two rounds and each carded a 72 in round three for the 215 final.
Junior Mark MacGrath closed out the tournament with a final score of 226 (+13), tying him for 73rd overall. Both MacGrath and Green recorded one eagle apiece in the tournament, two of just 21 players to do so. Sinclair tied for first in the tournament in total pars with 41 out of 54 holes.
The Lobos will return to action Friday, September 28, when they host their annual William H. Tucker Intercollegiate at the UNM Championship South Golf Course. Competition will include three rounds over two days, Friday and Saturday.
