New Mexico Finishes Third at Lori Fitzgerald Open
LAS CRUCES, N.M.— Two weeks after the New Mexico Lobos last ran, the women competed in the Lori Fitzgerald Open, hosted at the NMSU track and intramural fields.
Juanita Johnson was the top finisher for the Lobos, crossing the line in 18:06.97, placing seventh overall. Behind her was fellow Lobo Lydia Hallam, who ran the 5K in 18:12.02 for eight team points. Sophie Eckel finished 15th overall but 12th in team scoring with her time of 18:25.97, and Johanna Briscoe (19:23.71) and Chamique DuBoise (19:27.91) rounded out the team scoring with 17 and 18 points, respectively.
Elizabeth Reyes completed the race in 19:48.06, followed by MacKenzie Everett (19:53.67) and Emily Crall (20:24.15) to complete the New Mexico entries.
As a team, the Lobos scored 62 team points, finishing in third overall.
The Lobos get into the nitty gritty of their schedule starting Friday, Sept. 28, when they travel to Madison, Wis., for the Wisconsin Nuttycombe Invitational.
