ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — If you are a Lobo fan, and you’ve never been to Red Rally, you are missing out. But you don’t have to miss out this year.
Red Rally is tonight at 8 p.m. on the campus of The University of New Mexico at Johnson Field. The festivities will include house music, an on-site DJ, the UNM Marching Band, UNM Spirit Squad, and the Lobo Football team. It will also include plenty of UNM students looking to get riled up and ready for the game in Las Cruces on Saturday.
Did we mention the burning of the Aggie? Oh yeah, there is the burning of the Aggie.
A Lobo football player will get the honor of touching a giant Aggie mascot, a fire which frankly can be seen and felt over a very large area. The burning of the Aggie signifies the official start of rivalry weekend (although the Lobo student still have to go to class on Friday). The longstanding tradition is free for all fans, and is an event every Lobo fan should experience.
