ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — For the second-straight year, The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team will debut its roster in public hosting a special Cherry & Silver game prior to kicking off the season. This year’s event will take place on Friday, October 19, in Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit at 6 p.m. and will benefit the Send-A-Kid campaign that looks to aid children in attending Lobo games.

The action-packed event will not only include Lobo fans’ first chance to see the 2018-19 Lobos, but will also include the ever-popular 3-point shootout and dunk competition. Fans in attendance will also receive a free ticket to the Lobo football game against Fresno State on Saturday!
Admission for students and season-ticket holders to the Cherry & Silver game is FREE, including Lobo Club Level and U.S. Bank Level members. Tickets to the event are just $2, appropriately priced to bring the whole family to see the Lobos as they take to the court for the first time in 2018-19. Proceeds for the event will go to the Send-A-Kid campaign.
“Making The Pit the legendary atmosphere it is known for is something we began to tap into towards the end of last season,” head coach Paul Weir said. “We are hoping this year we can kick it off from the first day out and joining up with football the following day is an added benefit to continue to help all of Lobo Athletics grow.”
Fans wishing to purchase season ticket packages will be able to do so at the event as well. The Lobo ticket office will be on site at the Northeast corner of Dreamstyle Arena with Select-A-Seat, allowing fans to choose their seats in best-available locations for the 2018-19 season. Current season-ticket holders can also upgrade their seats to available sections if they wish.

“It has been a long wait since last March to get back on the basketball court,” Weir said. “The entire team is anxious to get this season started and chart our new course. We have many new members to our team who either just joined us or were sitting out last season as transfers. Putting all these pieces together is fun and we can’t wait to share that with our fans.”
