ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico football team returned to the practice field after its first day off of Fall Camp 2018, and the team had plenty of pep in their step for practice No. 6 of camp. The Lobos are gearing up for their season opener on September 1 against Incarnate Word.
Coach Davie once again met with the media after practice, and he discussed the depth that UNM has at the safety position, which he feels is a strength of this year’s team. He also has good words about Andrew Shelley, who in 2015 sent Eldorado into the state title game with a walk-off 38-yard field goal over Las Cruces (and current teammate Kameron Miller) and of Teton Saltes, the former Valley star who went from playing defensive line to starting offensive tackle in about five weeks last year. Saltes is back and healthy after getting hurt against Fresno State on the second play of the game.
