ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico baseball team will take on UC Davis in a three-game set for the final series of the season. The Lobos and UC Davis have never met on the baseball field, and the weekend will see UNM say good-bye for three seniors, who will play in their final home games in the cherry and silver.
UNM, which has one of the youngest teams in the nation, has just three seniors on the team, and they will be celebrated prior to Saturday’s 2 p.m. game with a pregame ceremony and the player’s moms throwing out the ceremonial first pitches. UNM’s three seniors are pitcher James Harrington from Gilbert, Arizona, and a pair of Albuquerque natives in catcher Daniel Herrera and outfielder Danny Collier. Herrera is a two-year Lobo, while Harrington played for UNM for four seasons and Collier played for parts of five seasons.
The Lobos will go with their regular weekend rotation as the team will look get a second straight series win to enter the off-season with some momentum.
All three games will be carried live on Stadium/The Mountain West Network and the games will also be available on ESPN Radio 101.7 The Team with Robert Portnoy on the call.
