ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Coming off a three-game road sweep at the hands of San Jose State in which UNM lost all three by one run, two on walk-offs, it gets no easier this week. UNM completes a six-game road swing with a trip down I-25 to face the New Mexico State Aggies at 6:05 in Las Cruces. The game will be broadcast on AggieVision, and fans in Albuquerque and on the web can listen to Robert Portnoy courtesy ESPN Radio 101.7 The Team.
New Mexico again scuffled through injuries, the latest blow being Jared Mang, who had to leave Friday’s game after a diving catch attempt in right field, just a few innings after blasting a long home run, his eighth. It’s been a season of injuries UNM’s big three, Danny Collier, Mang and Hayden Schilling, Ray Birmingham’s top three veterans he was going to lean on, have combined to start just 16 games together, out of 43. In fact, UNM has used 41 different batting orders and lineups this year through 43 games.
The Lobos will use senior James Harrington on Tuesday, and he will face Justin Dehn. Harrington was the starting pitcher three weeks ago in NMSU’s 9-1 win over the Lobos.
THe game in Las Cruces is the only mid-week game for UNM before returning home for four straight, including three against San Diego State, starting on Friday at 6:30. That series will continue on Saturday at 2 p.m. and Sunday at 1 p.m.
