ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — After a strong outing against #10 Arizona on Wednesday night, the University of New Mexico softball team will remain on the road to take on San José State on Friday, Saturday and Sunday in San Jose, Calif.
All three games in the series are scheduled to begin at noon PT, 1 p.m. MT, and will be played on SJSU’s brand new field. Because field construction is not yet completed, seating will be limited and fans planning to attend are encouraged to bring folding chairs.

The Lobos (12-32, 5-10 MW) resume conference play against the Spartans who are 27-15 on the season, 11-6 in league competition. SJSU is currently third in the league behind Fresno State (12-3) and Boise State (10-5).
UNM pitcher Jensen Main was on point on Wednesday as the Lobos nearly upset #10 Arizona with a final 3-1 score. Two runs crossed the plate in the bottom of the second after an error on the third out of the inning allowed a runner to reach base, followed by a two-run homer.
The Lobos outhit the Wildcats 5-4 and freshman Sydney Broderick led the Lobos with a pair of hits on the day. Junior Sydney Townes registered the only Lobo extra-base hit with a double in the third.
LAST MOUNTAIN WEST SERIES
-The Lobos went 1-2 in their last series including a close 1-0 loss to Utah State at home at Lobo Softball Field. Sophomore Jensen Main had a perfect game going through 3.2 innings before the Aggies singled in the fourth inning.
-In game two, Main entered in relief and helped power the Lobos back from a 5-4 deficit to an 8-5 victory.
-Game three got out of hand after five early runs scored in the first four innings. Once again, Main entered in relief and allowed just one hit through the remaining 3.2 innings but the Lobo offense failed to produce more than one run for the 5-1 final.
-In game two, sophomore Cameryn O’Grady hit just a homer short of a cycle while junior Kristyn Whitley shined through games two and three, solid at the plate and in the field at third base.
LOBO STAT LEADERS
-Senior Chelsea Johnson is currently leading the Lobos with a .318 batting average. She posts a team-high 42 hits on a team-most seven homeruns, six doubles and one triple, tallying a team-best 32 RBI.
-Sophomore Cameryn O’Grady is right behind with a .314 average. She has blasted 11 doubles, three triples and two homeruns so far this season. O’Grady is also 4-for-4 in stolen bases.
-Freshman Andrea Howard follows Johnson in homeruns with six and has also hit four doubles and a triple for her .296 average.
ONE PER SERIES
-Since the Lobos began conference play on March 16, UNM has gone 5-11 including a 4-8 mark in conference play.
-Included in those five wins is at least one win in each series the Lobos have played. UNM pulled off a 5-2 victory in game one over UNLV, a 13-4 win in six innings over NMSU, a 7-6 win over Nevada in game two of a doubleheader, and a 4-3 game-one win over Fresno State.
-The Lobos continued the tradition in their latest two series’ vs Colorado State and Utah State. UNM earned a game-one win 5-3 in 10 innings in a Saturday doubleheader against the Rams and took game two against the Aggies at home in an 8-5 final.
RECORD WATCH
-Senior Chelsea Johnson currently ranks 4th in program history in career homeruns with 31. The record is 39.
-Johnson also ties for fourth in program history in RBI with 131. She is just one away from third and the overall record is 152.
-Johnson is ninth in Lobo history in total bases (286).
-Senior Krissy Fortner ranks 4th in UNM history in appearances with 108.
-Sophomore Cameryn O’Grady is currently tied for 8th in Lobo history with 29 walks in a single season.
