BREMERTON, Wash. — The University of New Mexico men’s golf team finished tied for fifth out of 11 teams to conclude the 2018 Mountain West Championships at the Gold Mountain Golf Club. UNM shot a 1-over 289 in round three, the team’s best round of the tournament, for a final tally of 18-over 882.
Freshman Galven Green finished the tournament strong, shooting a 2-under 70 in round three for a final score of 2-under 214. Green’s efforts earned him a share of third place on the individual leaderboard. Junior Sean Carlon followed, shooting a 2-over 74 in round three for a 5-over 221 total. Redshirt senior Andre Garcia and junior Augustin Holé both finished with 9-over 225 totals at the event, with Garcia shooting a 1-under 71 in round three and Holé shooting a 2-over 74. Senior Gustavo Morantes rounded out the Lobos’ field, shooting an 8-over 80 in round three for a 16-over 232 total.
UNLV continued its first-place performance on Sunday, shooting a 4-under 284 in round three for an 8-under 856 total. Colorado State followed, shooting a 2-over 290 in round three for a final tally of 3-over 867. Nevada rounded out the top-three, shooting a 3-over 291 in round three for a final score of 11-over 875.
