ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The New Mexico Lobos will look to end a five-game losing streak on Tuesday at Santa Ana Star Field as they take on New Mexico State, winners of three in a row, in the first of three mid-week matchups with the Aggies. First pitch at Santa Ana Star Field is slated for 6:30 p.m.
Neither team has officially announced a pitcher for the game. The Lobos are coming off a tough stretch where UNM lost to Arizona 16-6 on Monday, and then were swept by Fresno State, the first series win for the Bulldogs in Albuquerque. Fresno State won 15-5 on Friday, 7-6 in 11 innings Saturday and 11-6 on Sunday. New Mexico State swept a three-game series with Cal State Bakersfield.
The Lobos have a tough 10-game stretch coming, with a three-game set with Nevada in Reno this weekend, and then a five-game home stand with Texas Tech and UNLV.
Last year the two teams split the season series, with each team winning on the others’ field. UNM won 5-3 at Presley Askew Field, but New Mexico State won the rematch at Santa Ana Star Field 12-5 later in the season.
