UNM Sits in 12th Following Round-Two Delay

BRYAN, Texas — The University of New Mexico men’s golf team ended play on Saturday in 12th place out of 14 teams at the Aggie Invitational in Bryan, Texas. The Lobos shot a 30-over 318 in round one and were one of the few teams to finish round two due to darkness, posting a 21-over 309 for a 51-over 627 total.

UNM was led by redshirt senior Andre Garcia, shooting a 4-over 76 in round one and a 1-over 73 in round two for a 5-over 149 total. Garcia was followed by junior Sean Carlon, matching Garcia’s 4-over 76 in round one and posting the same score in round two for an 8-over 152 total. Sophomore Sam Dickey was third for the Lobos, shooting an 11-over 83 in round one and an 8-over 80 in round two for a 19-over 163 total. Freshman Galven Green and redshirt freshman Ross Sinclair both finished with 21-over 165 totals, with Green shooting an 11-over 83 in round one and a 10-over 82 in round two while Sinclair shot a 13-over 85 in round one and an 8-over 80 in round two.

No. 7 Alabama leads the field after Saturday’s action. The Crimson Tide shot a 1-over 289 in round one and are shooting 6-over in round two for a 7-over total. Kent State follows after shooting a 16-over 304 in round one and a 1-under 287 in round two for a 15-over 591 total. No. 1 Oklahoma State rounds out the top three, shooting a 7-over 295 in round one while currently sitting at 9-over in round two for a 16-over total.

The Aggie Invitational will conclude on Sunday at 7 a.m. MT with the rest of round two followed by a single final round.
