SAN ANTONIO, Texas — The University of New Mexico men’s golf team concluded its time at the Lone Star Invitational on Tuesday with a ninth-place finish out of 15 teams. UNM finished the third and final round with a 10-over 298 and a 21-over 885.
Freshman Galven Green finished off his strong play from Monday in round three, finishing the tournament with an even 72 in the third round and an even 216 total while tying for 10th on the individual leaderboard. Green was followed by sophomore Sam Dickey and redshirt senior Andre Garcia. Dickey and Garcia finished one stroke apart with Dickey shooting an even 72 in round three for a 4-over 220 total and Garcia shooting a 4-over 76 in round three for a 5-over 221 total. Senior Gustavo Morantes finished round three with a 6-over 78 in round three and a 14-over 230 total.
Redshirt senior Ben Tolsma scored his best round of the tournament in round three, shooting a 1-under 71 for a 14-over total while competing as an individual.
The top-three remained the same following the final day of the tournament, with No. 7-ranked Oklahoma leading the way with a 4-under 284 in round three and a final tally of 15-under 849. Arkansas State followed, shooting an even 288 in round three for a 2-over 866 total. UTEP rounded out the top-three, ending round three with a 5-over 293, good for a final score of 7-over 871.
The Lobos will be back in action on Saturday, March 31 through Sunday, April 1 when they travel to Augusta, Georgia, for the 3M Augusta Invitational at the Forrest Hills Country Club.
