CHULA VISTA, Calif. — The University of New Mexico men’s golf team finished its time at the San Diego Country Club for the Lamkin Classic in 11th place out of 16 teams. The team shot a 6-over 294 in round three for a 17-over 881 total.
The Lobos were led by junior Sean Carlon who stormed to the top of UNM’s leaderboard in the final round with a 3-under 69, the best round of any Lobo at the tournament, finishing with a 1-over 217. Carlon was followed by sophomore Sam Dickey, who shot a 1-under 71 in round three for a 6-over 222 total. Redshirt senior Andre Garcia shot a 7-over 79 in round three for an 8-over 224 total, and junior Augustin Holé finished one stroke behind with a 4-over 76 in round three for a 9-over 225 total. Finally, redshirt senior Ross Sinclair finished round three with a 6-over 78 for a final score of 12-over 228.
Freshman Galven Green finished fourth out of all individual golfers at the event, shooting a 5-over 77 in round three for a 5-over 221. Redshirt senior Ben Tolsma shot his best round of the tournament in round three, scoring a 1-under 71 for a final tally of 6-over 222.
No. 1 ranked Oklahoma State continued its pace from Monday, shooting a 21-under 267, the best round of the tournament, to finish with a 44-under 820 total. No. 11 Texas Tech followed with an 8-under 280 in round three for a 12-under 852 total. Arizona rounded out the top-three with a third round score of 1-under 287 for a final tally of 4-under 860.
The Lobos will be back in action on Monday, March 19 through Tuesday, March 20 for the Lone Star Invitational at the Briggs Ranch Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas.
