ROUND TWO RESULTS | ROUND THREE RESULTS
WESTLAKE VILLAGE, Calif. — The University of New Mexico men’s golf team finished 11th out of 15 teams after playing a delayed round two and concluding the tournament with a third and final round. The Lobos finished round two with a 15-over 303 and round three with a 12-over 300 for a final score of 43-over 907.
UNM was led by junior Sean Carlon, who finished round two with a 1-over 73 along with a 4-over 76 in round three for a 9-over 225 total. Carlon was followed by redshirt senior Andre Garcia. Garcia shot an 8-over 80 in round two, but bounced back for a team-best round of 2-under 70 in round three for an 11-over 227. Freshman Galven Green was the most consistent performer for the Lobos, finishing round two with a 4-over 76 and round three with a 3-over 75 for a 13-over 229. UNM’s field was rounded out by sophomore Sam Dickey and redshirt freshman Ross Sinclair. Dickey shot a 2-over 74 in round two along with a 10-over 82 in round three for a final score of 16-over 82, while Sinclair finished round two with a 9-over 81 and round three with a 7-over 79 for a final score of 19-over 235.
“It was another tough one for us,” said head coach Glen Millican. “We played at a good golf course that requires a lot of patience. We have some work to do before we allow ourselves to play well, but we will get there.”
No. 22 UCLA held its first-place position from day one, ending round two with a 4-over 292 and round three with a 9-under 279 for a final total of 8-under 856, 20 strokes clear of second place. Host Pepperdine and No. 25 Tennessee also held their spots from Monday. Pepperdine finished round two with a 1-under 287 and round three with a 7-over 295 for a 12-over 876 total, while the Volunteers finished round two with a 21-over 309 but bounced back in round three with a 4-over 292 for a 27-over 891 total.
The Lobos will be back in action on Monday, March 12 through Tuesday, March 13 in Chula Vista, Calif. when they compete in the Lamkin San Diego Intercollegiate at the San Diego Country Club.
