ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s golf team will travel to Malibu, California, on Monday for the Southwestern Invitational at the North Ranch Country Club in Westlake Village, Calif. The tournament, hosted by Pepperdine University, will go through Tuesday.
The Lobos will be represented by redshirt senior Andre Garcia, junior Sean Carlon, sophomore Sam Dickey, redshirt freshman Ross Sinclair and freshman Galven Green, the same golfers that represented UNM in Hawaii earlier in February. Sinclair and Garcia led New Mexico at the event, with Sinclair finishing with an even 216 total, while Garcia finished with a 3-over 219 total.
The 15-team field is headlined by two top-25 teams including No. 22 UCLA and No. 25 Tennessee along with Mountain West teams San Diego State and San Jose State. Along with New Mexico and host Pepperdine, the rest of the field consists of Augusta University, Michigan, Oregon State, SMU, UC Davis, Washington State, Loyola Maramount, Long Beach State and Denver.
The teams will play three rounds during the tournament’s two days. Monday will consist of 36 holes, while there will be 18 holes on Tuesday. Click here to follow along with the event via live stats.
