ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team will take on Wyoming on Tuesday, February 20 on the road in Laramie, Wyo. looking to break a three-way fourth-place tie in the Mountain West standings. Both teams enter the matchup 8-6 in conference play, tied with UNLV.

Both teams are coming off of a win in their last matchup, UNM in a 78-63 victory over Utah State at home on Wednesday and Wyoming in an 89-75 win over San José State on Saturday, also at home.  

FUN FACTS
UNM is just one 3-pointer from breaking the all-time program record for most 3-pointers in program history, the Lobos tied the record, 301, in their last game against Utah State.

Junior guard Anthony Mathis enters the game ranked fourth in the nation in 3-point field goal percentage (49.1) while freshman forward Makuach Maluach is approaching the all-time UNM freshman single-season scoring top-10. He has scored 258 points, 265 would put him in the top 10.

Senior Joe Furstinger, currently tied for 10th in UNM history with 98 career blocks, is in search of his 100th career block which would tie him for eighth overall in program history.

SERIES HISTORY
The Lobos lead the all-time history over the Cowboys 69-67 after claiming a 75-66 win over Wyoming in Dreamstyle Arena earlier this season on Jan. 10. Despite the overall lead, the Lobos are just 23-41 on the road at Wyoming. The last time UNM won in Laramie was on Jan. 8, 2014 in a 72-69 overtime victory, before any of the current Lobos were on the squad. 

UNM is 3-2 in the last five meetings after going on an eight-win streak from Feb. 9, 2011 to Feb. 5, 2014.

THE COACHES
UNM head coach Paul Weir enters the game 13-14 in his first season at the helm of the Lobos, 41-20 in his career. Wyoming’s Allen Edwards is 40-25 in his second season with Wyoming, 17-10 on the season.
