TUCSON, Ariz. — The University of New Mexico men’s golf team sits in fourth place out of 18 teams after one day at the Arizona Intercollegiate in Tucson, Ariz. The team was slow out of the gate, occupying 17th after five holes, but recovered throughout the day. The Lobos finished with a 26-over after scoring a 29-over 313 in round one and scoring a 3-under through 13 holes after round two was delayed due to darkness. The second round is set to resume at 8 a.m. Tuesday.
“Overall, it was a good day for us,” said head coach Glen Millican. “We got off to a rough start, and the weather was really difficult all day. However, we had a great finish in the morning and played well in the afternoon.”
The Lobos were led by redshirt senior Andre Garcia. Garcia, who is in a familiar spot leading the team, finished round one with a 5-over 76 and is shooting a 4-under in round two.
