Egan Nets First Career Top 10 Finish

U.S. Championship RMISA Results

ANCHORAGE, Alaska — Brenna Egan, who had never finished higher than 21st in any collegiate race in her career, netted her first career top 10 finish as the junior took tenth in the Classical Sprints among RMISA finishers at the U.S. Championships at Kinkaid Park in Alaska.

Overall, counting all collegiate and other racers, she was 21st collegiately and 39th overall.  The top 30 sprinters overall advanced to the quarterfinal races.  While there was no team scoring, Egan would have scored a career-high 21 points in the race had scoring been kept.  The only other Lobo in the race was Carolyn Lucca, who finished 30th.

The race marked a great start to the junior season of Egan, who last year got her first taste of NCAA Championship racing, qualifying for nationals for the first time in her career.

On the men’s side, Niklas Rombock finished 25th among RMISA racers and Rombock was the only UNM competitor in the event.

The alpine squads open the official collegiate meet season in Montana on Saturday with the first of two RMISA giant slalom qualifiers.
