PORTSMOUTH, Va. – The basketball journey continues for University of New Mexico men’s basketball senior Tim Williams as he is competing in the Portsmouth Invitational in Portsmouth, Virginia.
The Portsmouth Invitational has been running for 65 years and invites 64 of the best college basketball players (seniors) from across the country to compete in a four-day, 12 game tournament in front of representatives from the every NBA Team.
Tim Williams is currently competing with the Norfolk Sports Club squad, coached by Mike Head and Mark Butts. Their NBA Assistant coach is Acie Law.
Williams and the Norfolk Sports Club finished up their first game of the 12-game tournament Wednesday evening, defeating Portsmouth Sports Club 112-106.
The 6-9 forward Williams put together a solid performance of 14 points on 7-of-9 shooting from the field. He also brought down five rebounds and tallied one assists and one block.
Williams’ team shot 50.0 percent from the field, 36.8 percent from the three and 84.4 percent from the foul line.
