Lobos Travel to First-Place Colorado State

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Currently tied for second place in the Mountain West standings, The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team will take on the first-place Colorado State Rams on the road on Wednesday, Feb. 22 at 7 p.m. in an important matchup. 

The Lobos (15-11, 10-5 MW) enter the game coming off of a 66-57 victory over Fresno State on Saturday at WisePies Arena – The Pit. Junior Cherise Beynon tallied her second career triple-double in 10 days and now ranks second in the NCAA for most triple-doubles this season. She led UNM with 15 points, 15 rebounds and 10 assists en route to the victory.

Colorado State (20-6, 12-2 MW) is 11-1 in its last 12 games including a 55-48 upset loss on the road at Utah State on Feb. 8. The only other team to claim a win over the Rams in conference play this season is Boise State, which occurred in CSU’s second Mountain West game of the season on New Year’s Eve.

Series History:
The Lobos are 40-36 overall against the Rams despite a 23-13 advantage at WisePies Arena – The Pit. On the road, UNM is 11-21 with its last victory in Fort Collins coming on Jan. 23, 2013 when the Lobos claimed a 68-54 win. UNM is 1-6 against Colorado State in the teams’ past seven meetings including a 78-63 loss at home earlier this season on Jan. 14.

The Coaches:
The Lobos are led by head coach Mike Bradbury in his first season with UNM, his 10th season overall. Bradbury posts a career record of 193-128 and is 15-11 at the helm of the Lobos.

Colorado State is led by Ryun Williams in his third season at the helm of the Rams. He has guided CSU to a 110-43 record and posts a 368-196 career record in the NCAA.
