ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team is looking for another series sweep with a road trip to Boise, Idaho on Wednesday. The Lobos will face Boise State in the teams’ second game of the season at 7 p.m. (MT).
The Lobos (14-10, 9-4 MW) enter the game coming off of a 17-point victory over the visiting Air Force Falcons on Wednesday night followed by a bye week. Junior Cherise Beynon registered the first triple-double for a Lobo since UNM women’s hoops legend Jean Rostermundt tallied hers on January 19, 1979 vs UTEP. Beynon collected 20 points, 12 rebounds and 12 assists en route to the UNM victory. UNM is 6-2 in its last eight games despite having to shake up its lineup due to Lobo injuries.
Boise State has gone 3-3 since facing UNM on Jan. 18 in WisePies Arena – The Pit. The Broncos kicked off the season going 12-1 but have since gone 4-6 in their last 10 games. The Broncos most recently knocked off Air Force on Saturday by a score of 69-59.
Series History:
The Lobos enter Wednesday’s game 6-8 all time against Boise State since 1983. UNM has claimed three of those wins on hits home court, including the Lobos’ 75-68 victory at home earlier this season. On the road, the Lobos are 2-4 against the Broncos.
The Coaches:
The Lobos are led by head coach Mike Bradbury in his first season with UNM, his 10th season overall. Bradbury posts a career record of 192-127 and is 14-10 at the helm of the Lobos.
Boise State is coached by Gordy Presnell in his 12th season. He has amassed a 211-156 record with the Broncos and is 607-283 in 30 seasons as a collegiate head coach.
