Lobos host exhibition vs. Fort Lewis on Sunday

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico women’s basketball team plays its second of two exhibition games 2 p.m. Sunday when the Lobos host Fort Lewis at Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit.
 
UNM opened its two-game exhibition slate with an 80-66 victory over Eastern New Mexico on Wednesday in Albuquerque. Seniors Cherise Beynon and Tesha Buck paced the Lobos with 17 points apiece with Beynon adding eight assists and eight rebounds. Junior post Jaisa Nunn had nine points and eight rebounds while senior Alex Lapeyrolerie had a team-high 10 rebounds to go along with six points.
 
The Lobos, who were picked to finish fourth in the Mountain West, take on a Fort Lewis team that is ranked No. 22 in the WBCA NCAA Division II preseason poll and was picked second in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference behind Colorado State-Pueblo (which is ranked No. 5 in the nation). The Skyhawks went 21-7 last season and are led by a pair of preseason all-conference players in Briana Clah and Alyssa Yocky – an Albuquerque native.
