Men's Hoops to Revive BYU Rivalry for Charity

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico men’s basketball team is bringing back an old rivalry to Dreamstyle Arena – The Pit as it hosts BYU in an exciting charity exhibition game on Friday night at 7:30 pm. Net proceeds for the game will be donated to Hurricane Harvey relief.
While the exhibition will not be available on TV, it will be available via live stats and to listen live. The exhibition marks the first time fans will be able to see the new Lobo squad in action under first-year head coach Paul Weir.
The 2017-18 Lobos return five players from last season and welcome nine new faces. UNM added six transfers, four of which will be eligible to compete this season, as well as three freshmen.
Tickets for the game are currently on sale. With the exception of student tickets, all tickets will be general admission and just $10 each. Tickets can be purchased online at UNMTickets.com or in person at the ticket office located at the Northeast corner of Dreamstyle Arena. Student tickets are free with UNM student ID and single-game suites are available for $500. Additional donation opportunities for disaster relief will be available inside Dreamstyle Arena during the game.
UNM and BYU have had a long-standing, exciting rivalry that fans and the community have recognized since the teams were members of the Western Athletic Conference (WAC). The Lobos competed in the WAC from 1962-1999. The Cougars lead the series 76-55 with the teams’ last meeting occurring in the 2015-16 season in Honolulu, Hawaii.
New Mexico officially opens its 2017-18 season on Nov. 11 against Northern New Mexico at 7 p.m. at Dreamstyle Arena. Season tickets are on sale now and booths will be available at Dreamstyle Arena for fans who arrive early to Friday’s event to sign up. Season tickets can also be purchased by visiting UNMTickets.com/basketball-season, visiting the Dreamstyle Arena Ticket Office in person, or calling 505-925-LOBO (5626).
Single-game tickets are also on sale now and can be obtained online at UNMTickets.com, in-person at the Lobo Ticket Office and through the phone center (M-F, 10 a.m.-4 p.m., 505-925-5858).
