Lobos Host Boise State Wednesday Night

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — After kicking off Mountain West play 4-0, The University of New Mexico Lobos look to rebound from their two-game skid on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at 7 p.m. in WisePies Arena – The Pit as they host Boise State. UNM fell in its last home contest for the first time since Dec. 6, when UNM fell to visiting Minnesota, and is now third in the Mountain West standings at 4-2.

The Lobos enter Wednesday’s tough contest 8-8 on the season, 4-2 in the Mountain West while the Broncos are 13-2, 3-2 in the league.

UNM is led by junior Cherise Beynon who posts 15.8 points per game while senior Richelle van der Keijl follows with 13.8 points and a team-high 10.3 rebounds per game. Four Lobos head into Wednesday’s game in double figures including Beynon, van der Keijl, sophomore Jaisa Nunn (10.9) and freshman Mykiel Burleson (10.1).

Beynon remains on the hunt for 1,000 points and 500 rebounds as she is just 52 points and 28 rebounds shy of both marks. Achieving both would make Beynon just the 15th player in Lobo history to do so.

The Broncos are led by senior Brooke Pahukoa who averages 13.6 points per game while junior Shalen Shaw follows with 11.3 points and a team-high 7.2 rebounds per game. As a squad, the team ranks 15th in 3-pointers made per game (8.6) and averages second-highest in the Mountain West with 71.8 points per game (UNM is fourth in the league with 68.9).

The Coaches:
The Lobos are led by head coach Mike Bradbury in hs first season with UNM, his 10th season overall. Bradbury posts a career record of 186-125 and is 8-8 at the helm of the Lobos.

Boise State is coached by Gordy Presnell in his 12th season who has guided the Broncos to a 208-152 record in his time at Boise State. Presnell enters Wednesday’s game with a 604-279 career record.

Series History:
The Lobos are 5-8 all time against Boise State since 1983. UNM has claimed two wins on its home court, going 2-3 at WisePies Arena – The Pit. The last home victory vs. the Broncos came on Feb. 25, 2015.

The last time the two teams met was on Feb. 17, 2016 when the Lobos claimed a 70-60 victory on the road. UNM is 2-2 in its last four meetings with the Broncos. In the last three games between the two teams, the losing team has scored exactly 60 points.
