ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – With men’s basketball season right around the corner and season ticket renewals being mailed out this week, the University of New Mexico men’s basketball team has released its non-conference schedule for the upcoming 2017-18 season. Click here to view full schedule.

The non-conference portion of the schedule is highlighted by eight home games, including a match up with projected preseason No. 1 Arizona and Rio Grande Rival New Mexico State, and the 2017 Emerald Coast Classic. The schedule is also highlighted by road trips to UTEP and Colorado.

“To have a schedule where we can play up to four Power-5 programs says a lot about the commitment towards competitive scheduling,” said head coach Paul Weir. “Continuing the series with UTEP going forward is another key component to bringing as many regional rivalries back as we can. Finally, our opening weekend series of games is an exciting opportunity for schools in the state to come together and propel ourselves forward in the future.”

The Lobos open up the season playing host to Northern New Mexico. The Lobos will also host various match ups with other schools around the state in Western New Mexico, Eastern New Mexico, New Mexico Highlands and Fort Lewis during the weekend of Nov. 11 and 12. Specific information on the opening weekend can be found here.

Nebraska-Omaha will visit Dreamstyle Arena on Nov. 14 as part of the 2017 Emerald Coast Classic, before the Lobos make their first road trip of the season to Rio Grande Rival New Mexico State on Nov. 17.

The second game of the Emerald Coast Classic will be played on Nov. 21 against Tennessee Tech inside Dreamstyle Arena before the Lobos will head out to Destin, Florida for the rest of the Emerald Coast Classic on November 24 and 25 to face TCU and either St. Bonaventure or Maryland.

Following the Emerald Coast Classic, the Lobos will host Evansville in the Mountain West/Missouri Valley Challenge on Nov. 29. Heading into December, the Lobos will have back-to-back road trips to UTEP on Dec. 2 and Colorado on Dec. 6.

Four home games will wrap up non-conference action for the Lobos which includes the second contest of the Rio Grande Rival against New Mexico State on Dec. 9. The Lobos will then take on Arizona on Dec. 16, Rice on Dec. 19 and Prairie View A&M on Dec. 22.
