ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – University of New Mexico men’s basketball head coach Paul Weir has announced the hiring of new Athletic Performance Coach Tyler Stuart.
“This is as exciting an acquisition for me since I arrived in Albuquerque,” said Weir. “Tyler’s commitment to excellence is perfect for our program as we build the foundation. His background at Florida with pressing and fast-paced teams make him a terrific fit for training our style of play. His abilities to push young men beyond the norm will be pivotal to our success.”
Stuart comes to New Mexico after spending five years with the Florida Gators. Prior to his time with the Gators, Stuart was the Director of Basketball Strength and Conditioning at Appalachian State for the 2011-12 year. He got his start in strength and conditioning at Clemson University in 2007 after he graduated with his bachelors in kinesiology. In 2011, Stuart earned his master’s degree in human nutrition from Clemson.
“I am very excited to join the UNM basketball program, led by Coach Weir,” said Stuart. “UNM has a great basketball history and I am eager to get started and help rebuild this program to a championship level.”
