UNM’s Palomino to swim at USA National Championships

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Adriana Palomino will represent The University of New Mexico at the 2017 Phillips 66 National Championships and World Championship Team Trials next week in Indianapolis.
 
Palomino will compete in the 400 freestyle Friday (June 30) at the IU Natatorium on the campus of IUPUI.
 
“This is one of the best competitions in the world and I’m excited to have the Lobos competing against our nation’s best swimmers,” UNM coach Dorsey Tierney-Walker said. “This is a tremendous opportunity for Adriana and UNM swimming.”
 
Palomino is coming off a sophomore campaign where she was named All-Mountain West in three events – the 200 (sixth place, 1:49.33), 500 (third place, 4:44.86) and 1,650 freestyle (fourth place, 16:30.54). She owns UNM records in the 200 (1:47.63), 500 (4:44.15), 1,000 (9:54.41) and the 1,650 freestyle (16:22.46) as well as being part of the 800 freestyle relay team that holds the school record at 7:20.70.
