ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Head Lobo men’s basketball coach Paul Weir has announced two staff updates. Weir will retain Director of Operations Ryan Berryman and has named Guy Meyer as the Lobos’ video coordinator.
“Keeping Ryan and adding Guy are not only critical logistical pieces to our program but they are also native New Mexicans,” said Weir. “We want the people in the state to feel as though this is their team and there is little more we can offer than to hire our own. I am thankful Ryan and Guy have chosen to work for the Lobos and look forward to their contributions.”
Berryman, a Sandia Park, N.M. native, was named Director of Operations in January of 2017 under former head coach Craig Neal. The 2017-18 season will be his sixth year with the program and first under head coach Paul Weir. He previously served as the head manager of the men’s basketball program after starting as a student manager with the program prior to the 2012-2013 season. Berryman recently completed his Masters of Business Administration degree in December of 2016 from UNM, while acting as the director of operations as a graduate assistant.
As the director of operations, Berryman is responsible for scheduling all team travel, meetings, meals, and community service while also monitoring team academics and the team’s operating budget. He serves as liaison between coaches, players, support staff, and administration.
Meyer will be responsible for handling all of the program’s video needs, including game film, practice film, and coaches’ film.
The Santa Fe, N.M. native, comes to the University of New Mexico from New Mexico State. Meyer served as Director of Operations for the Aggies under former Aggie head coach Paul Weir.
Prior to working with the Aggies, Meyer spent the last five seasons at Cochise College as an assistant coach under Jerry Carillo. While in Sierra Vista, Ariz., Meyer helped guide the Runnin’ Apaches to four 20-win seasons.
Before working at Cochise College, Meyer taught physical education at Cesar Chavez Elementary School and pursued a career playing professional basketball overseas.
Meyer graduated from Fort Lewis College in 2007 where he was a four-year letter winner for the Skyhawks.
