COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. –– The University of New Mexico men’s tennis team had three players selected for All-Mountain West Honors on Thursday evening. Bart Van Leijsen, Ricky Hernandez-Tong and Dominic West have each been honored by the league coaches in the 2017 All-Mountain West Awards selections.
 
Van Leijsen was selected for the All-MW Singles Team for the second time in his singles career and the All-MW Doubles Team for the third time in his doubles career, Hernandez-Tong was selected for the first time in his career for the All-MW Singles Team, and West was selected for the first time in his career for the All-MW Doubles Team. 
 
Van Leijsen posted an 8-12 record in dual single matches and 12-5 record in dual doubles matches this season. Hernandez-Tong led the Lobos this season with the most singles wins, posting an 13-8 dual record in singles matches and 10-8 dual record in doubles matches. West posted a 12-5 record in dual singles matches and a 14-5 record in dual doubles matches.

The doubles team of Van Leijsen and West had a 12-5 record in dual doubles and 5-0 record in MW conference play.

The Lobos seek their 12th Mountain West Tournament Championship in eight years this weekend as they head to Boise, Idaho.
 
Due to a forecast of cold temperatures in the early morning hours on Friday, the 2017 Mountain West Men’s Tennis Championship will be delayed two hours and will now begin at 11 a.m. MT. New Mexico will take on No. 5 seed San Diego State 30 minutes after the Fresno State/Air Force match is complete, but will not start earlier than 3 p.m. MT.
