RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – The University of New Mexico women’s golf team is tied for 1st place with a team score of 1-under-par 287 after the first round of the 2017 MW Championship at the Dinah Shore Tournament Course.
 
“It was very important to post a good first round,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “The team played tough all day and what a great round for Manon.”

Currently the Lobos are tied with San Diego State and UNLV for the first spot on the leaderboard. The successful run for the Lobos was led by senior Manon Mollé, who is sitting in first place as an individual after earning a 4-under-par 68 on the day. Mollé finished on the top of the board after the first round previously in her freshman season and also won the conference tournament as a sophomore in 2015. 

Senior Eva Saulnier had a very consistent first-round after shooting a score of par-72 and is currently sitting in the top-10 on the individual leaderboard. Fellow teammate, junior Ingrid Gutierrez shined the most during in the back nine by staying on par for seven holes and finished being 1-over-par 73. Junior Alexandra Moisand was strong for the Lobos and finished 2-over-par 74 and not far behind her, sophomore Darian Zachek clinched a respectable score of 3-over-par 75.
 
“We need to finish up with pars or better at the end tomorrow,” mentioned Trujillo.
 
The Lobos will hit the green on Tuesday, April 18th at 8:30 a.m. [PT] and will continue to play through their second round of 18-holes.
