RANCHO MIRAGE, Calif. – The regular season is officially over for the University of New Mexico women’s golf team and the Lobos are heading into the conference tournament starting on Monday, April 17th at Mission Hills Country Club on the Dinah Shore Tournament Course.
Last year, UNM claimed 5th place after three rounds and totaled a score of 914. All five Lobos have experienced this same course last year, and they are looking to compete well and finish strong. Senior Manon Mollé claimed the individual title during her sophomore season in 2015 with a score of 6-under-par 210. Under head coach Jill Trujillo, UNM have been MW Champions eight-times and will be seeking their first conference title since 2014.
“We must have 100% belief that we can win this title,” said head coach Jill Trujillo. “Our second round at ASU was a good precursor to how well we can play.”
The Lobos will be going head-to-head with Boise State as well as reigning champion UNLV in the first round starting at 7:00 a.m. [PT]. The Rebels totaled a score of 13-over-par 877 and claimed the program’s first MW Championship on this course.
“There are six pretty good teams and it’s all up for grabs this year,” mentioned Trujillo.
This tournament will be three rounds of 18-holes each day with 9-minute intervals in between each groups.
Live scoring will be provided by the MW on themw.com or directly on Golfstat.
