The Lobos – Manon Mollé, Ingrid Gutierrez, Darian Zachek, Eva Saulnier, Alexandra Moisand and Katerina Jaeger
TEMPE, A.Z. – The University of New Mexico women’s golf team finished 13th at the annual PING/ASU Invitational Sunday.
The first round for the Lobos left the team at the bottom of the leaderboard in 14th but they showed promise after their second round performance. UNM climbed up three spots to find themselves in 11th place before the final round which had a 7:30 a.m. start time on Sunday, April 9th.
Junior Ingrid Gutierrez had the best run for the Lobos in this final round ending with a 2-over-par 74 on the day and claiming a 6-over-par 222 in total for the weekend. Sophomore Darian Zachek was holding the lead for the Lobos in both the first and second round but after a 5-over-par 77 in this final round, she totaled at 7-over-par 223.
Senior Eva Saulnier totaled at 4-over-par 76 on the day and finished 11-over-par 227 after these three rounds. Fellow senior, Katerina Jaeger improved in this final round after a difficult second day and ended with a score of 6-over-par 78 on Sunday and totaled at 24-over-par 240. To close out for the team, senior Manon Mollé totaled at 7-over-par 79 in the final round and finished 13-over-par 229.
Competing as an individual was junior, Alexandra Moisand and completed the final round with a score of 9-over-par 81 and had a totaling score of 18-over-par 234 after the three days of competition in Tempe.
With the Lobos having completed their spring season, the team will have a week before they head into the Mountain West Championships in Palm Springs, CA which will be happening on April 17th to April 19th.
