IRVING, TEXAS — Twenty members of The University of New Mexico men’s soccer team have been named to the Conference USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll following their outstanding performance in the classroom through the 2016 season, the league announced Thursday. The honor marks yet another outstanding example of the recurring Lobo soccer academic success.

In order to earn a spot on the prestigious list, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better. Nearly the entire UNM squad made the list, which is not surprising considering the Lobos’ consistent academic success. UNM earned its 13th NSCAA Team Academic Award in the last 14 seasons in 2016 for maintaining a team GPA of 3.35 during the season.

A total of 2,843 student-athletes earned the recognition to the C-USA Commissioner’s Honor Roll during the 2016-17 academic year among all C-USA institutions. Only UNM men’s soccer student-athletes were eligible since the Lobos only compete in men’s soccer in C-USA.

Student-athletes with a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or better also receive the Commissioner’s Academic Medal. The recipients of that outstanding honor will be released tomorrow via the Conference USA website and on GoLobos.com.
