Lobos Look for Series Win at Home Against CSU

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – After picking up their first series win last weekend against UNLV, the University of New Mexico softball team will look to continue that moment at home as it host Colorado State this weekend. Friday’s game will be at 5 p.m. while Saturday will start at 1 p.m. Sunday’s game will begin at noon. All three games will air on the Mountain West Network and live stats will be available.

Series History
Colorado State leads the all-time series 41-28. The Lobos have won the last four of five meetings, including a sweep of the Rams in Fort Collins last year.

ABOUT THE LOBOS
The Lobos are currently tied for first place with Utah State, Fresno State and San Jose State. The Lobos started off Mountain West action last weekend with a series win over UNLV. The Lobos are 16-12 on the year and 2-1 in the conference. Last weekend, the Lobos put together a tight 3-2 victory over the Rebels in game one. Game two went to the Rebels, 4-2, but the Lobos took the rubber match on Sunday 5-4.

New Mexico is hitting .312 on the season, which ranks fourth in the Mountain West and 38th in the country. Jasmine Casados continues to lead the league with 39 total hits on the year. Shelbie Franc has moved up to second in the league with a .466 batting average.

In the circle, the Lobos have lowered their ERA to 3.67 and own an opponent batting average of .295. Tess McPherson led the Lobos last week, earning both victories against the Rebels. She is now 8-5 on the season with a 3.29 ERA. Fortner picked up another save, her third on the season and 14th in her career. Her three saves are ranked 10th among the nation.

ABOUT COLORADO STATE
The Rams come into the series with a 15-10 overall record and a 3-3 conference record. The Rams are also coming off a series win, claiming the final two games of the series against San Diego State last weekend.

As team, the Rams are hitting .287. Amber Nelson leads the Rams and the conference with a .477 batting average. She owns a .923 slugging percentage and a .611 on-base percentage. In 25 games, she has hit nine home runs and tallied 27 RBI.

In the circle, the Rams have a 4.06 earned run average and allow their opponents to hit .302. Larisa Petakoff leads the staff with a 2.52 ERA. She is 5-2 on the year and has made eight starts. Kaylynn Pierce is second on the squad with a 3.87 ERA. She is 6-1 on the season and has 34 strikeouts in 47.0 innings of work. The Lobos will also likely see Bridgett Hutton, who has pitched the most for the Rams at 66.1 innings.
