ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – On Saturday, Mar. 25th the University of New Mexico’s women’s golf team held their annual free women’s clinic at the UNM Championship Golf Course.
It was an early start at 9 a.m. [MT] where 54 women of all ages and levels of experience gathered at the course and head coach Jill Trujillo welcomed all who came to participate. After a couple of speakers addressed the attendees including Marjori Krebs on the Lobo Women’s Society which is a group that works to support and empower female-athletes at UNM.
The team introduced themselves and went over what their lives are like as student-athletes with the crowd. After answering a handful of questions on training techniques, nutrition as well as their futures after their time at UNM, everyone was separated into three groups based on
experience.
Each woman had the opportunity to go to all three stations where they went over putting, chipping and, of course, hit some on the driving range. At each station members of the team and coaching staff went over basic techniques and helped improve everyone’s game.
Overall the clinic was a success and it was an opportunity for the team to take a break from practicing their own technique before they head off to Tempe, AZ for the PING/ASU Invitational on April 7th.
