RANCHO SANTA FE, Calif. – The University of New Mexico women’s golf team is set to play in the March Mayhem tournament hosted by San Diego State University at The Farms Golf Club from Mar. 20 to Mar. 22.
“The match play format will bring out our competitive juices,” said head coach Jill Trujillo.
Seeing as it’s the competition season for college sports, SDSU’s March Mayhem is equipped with a bracket and all for the teams and fans. This tournament will be decided by 72-holes, with 36 being played on Mar. 20, 18 to follow on Mar. 21 and it will end with the last 18-holes on Mar. 22.
From the field, USC is currently ranked fifth and both Northwestern (16) and Arizona (17) are in the top-20. This sort of competition will be a great test for the Lobos as they continue to work on improving their and being more consistent as a team.
“It’s really fun to watch and our first match against Arizona will be an exciting one,” mentioned Trujillo.
Lobos will go head to head with the Arizona Wildcats at 7:30 a.m. [PT] or 8:30 a.m. [MT] and look to play either Idaho or BYU for the last 18-holes of the day.
