ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The 2017 MLS season has kicked off and a pair of former Lobos have earned starting spots. Justin Davis (Minnesota United FC) and Ben McKendry (Vancouver Whitecaps FC) have each started early matches for their respective squads this season.

McKendry, who competed for the Lobos for three seasons from 2012-2014, tallied 33 points on 14 goals and five assists for UNM in 4,702 minutes. He signed a homegrown contract with the Whitecaps in 2015 and recently earned his first career start when the Vancouver Whitecaps took on the San Jose Earthquakes on Saturday, March 11 in San Jose, Calif. at Avaya Stadium.

Davis also earned his MLS debut, starting Minnesota United FC’s inaugural MLS game on March 3 against the Portland Timbers on the road at Providence Park. While Davis has been a member of the squad, this season marks the first that Minnesota United FC has been a member of the MLS. Davis was a four-year mainstay for the Lobos from 2006-2009, posting 20 goals and 18 assists in 77 games played.
