Volleyball Hosting 11th-Annual Grass Bash in April

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico volleyball program is hosting its 11th annual Grass Bash tournament in April, with all the co-ed divisions scheduled for Sunday, April 9, and the rest of the tournament slated for on Sunday, April 23.

The event, which takes place on Johnson Field on the main campus of UNM, features thousands of dollars in prizes and includes 15 different divisions of play.

Grass Bash kicks off on Saturday. April 9, with five coed groups, including Coed Doubles Open, Coed Doubles A Division, Coed Fours Open, Coed Fours A Division and Coed Rec Fours.

Two weeks later on Sunday, April 23, the tournament’s activities will feature Women’s Open, Women’s A Division, Women’s B Division, Men’s Open, Men’s A Division and Men’s B Division.

Also on April 23, there will be other brackets for girls including 18&U, 16&U, 14&U and 12&U.

All ages and skill levels are encouraged to come out and play.

Interested players can register by mailing in their application, dropping off their application at the UNM Volleyball Offices or filling out an online form at this link.

The costs for the tournament is $25 dollars for adults and $20 for students if players register by the first deadline for each weekend, which is March 31 for the first weekend and April 14 for the second weekend. Afterward that, the rates increase to $30 per adult and $25 per student.

Registrants must turn in their forms and money on time to be able to participate.

Grass Bash started in 2007 in head coach Jeff Nelson’s first season spring at New Mexico and is now entering its 11th year.
