ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — After Lobo football’s record-breaking 2016 campaign, the program will host its annual NFL Pro Day for draft eligible seniors. Pro Day is scheduled for Thursday, March 9 at 1:00 pm in the Tow Diehm Football Facility at the University of New Mexico. Eighteen Lobos are expected to attend and will participate in the same drills and tests used at the NFL Combine. Pro Day will offer these student-athletes the opportunity to show their talents in front of NFL scouts.
Pro Day is open to the public and football fans are encouraged to turn out to support their Lobos. Players will test in bench press, vertical jump and broad jump beginning at 1:00 pm. At 2:00 pm, the action will move to Brian Urlacher Field in the Indoor Practice Facility where players will be timed in the 40-yard dash and additional events. Select players will also participate in position specific drills under the direction of NFL personnel.
“This is a great opportunity for our fans to come out and support these seniors one more time,” said head football coach Bob Davie. “This group of players was instrumental in the turnaround and success of our football program. I am excited and proud for them to have the opportunity to show what they can do in front of NFL personnel.”
Looking ahead to the 2017 football season, the Lobos will open at home against Abilene Christian on September 2 before hosting in-state rival New Mexico State the following week on September 9. The Lobos will round out the 2017 home schedule with Mountain West Conference matchups versus Air Force, UNLV, Utah State and Colorado State.
