Seawolf Invitational Final Results
ANCHORAGE, Alaska — The University of New Mexico Lobos finished a very close fourth in the Mixed Gender Relays, and that garnered the squad a fifth place finish at the Seawolf Invitational. It marked the first time in recent memory that a Mixed Gender Relay was held.
Each of the seven RMISA schools scored two squads in the relays, and UNM’s teams finished fourth and 11th, garnering 126 points, one point behind Alaska Anchorage. UNM’s fourth place squad featured two skiers that didn’t race in the freestyle sprints yesterday in Aljaž Praznik and Kati Roivas. The two teamed up with Petteri Vaherkoski and Krista Niiranen to finish fourth.
UNM’s other relay team finished 11th. That team consisted of Arnaud Guyon, Brenna Egan, Niklas Rombock and Julie Ensrud.
The Lobos overall finished with 464 points, and finished just 15 points out of fourth place (Montana State at 479). Utah was the overall winner with 665 points.
The Lobos will stay in Anchorage for the second half of the UAA Invitational, which will consist of two regular Nordic events. The 5/10K classical will take place on Saturday, and the 15/20K freestyle will take place on Sunday. New Mexico is in third place in the UAA Invitational, just 12 points out of first.
