ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – Redshirt senior pitcher Tess McPherson earned her first Mountain West Pitcher of the Week honor as announced by the Mountain West office Tuesday morning.

After earning just six wins in her first three seasons with the Lobos, McPherson picked up three victories in the opening weekend. She went 3-0 and did not allow an earned run in 20.0 innings of work. The lone run that came across was against St. Mary’s.

“I couldn’t be prouder of how well Tess performed in the circle this weekend,” said head coach Erica Beach. “She helped lead this team every inning she stepped out there. I am so excited about how she is throwing and what she is capable of.”

She pitched two shutout victories, claiming wins over Seattle last Friday and UC Riverside on Sunday. She walked just three on the weekend and struck out eight.

One of her highlights on the weekend was getting out of a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning against UC Riverside to hold the 1-0 lead for the Lobos.

The Lobos are off again this coming weekend, heading to the Texas A&M tournament to face Missouri State, Stephen F. Austin and host Texas A&M. For a schedule, click here.
