ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The University of New Mexico Men’s Tennis team is ringing in the New Year by hosting their annual alumni match and fundraiser on January 7th at the Linda Estes Tennis Center indoor courts at 5 p.m. Come watch the team and get a sneak peak of the 2017 season.

The event is free to attend and there will be a donation table where people can help support the UNM Men’s Tennis Team (All checks made payable to UNM Men’s Tennis). Food will also be provided to everyone who comes out to support.

This is a great opportunity to see some of your Lobo favorites from over the years. Returning Lobo tennis legends who are competing in this year’s event include Bart Scott, Roy Canada, Max Jones, Ray Jaramillo, Alan Dils, Jadon Phillips, Johnny Kowalski, Matt Neeld, and Brandon Altman.

The current and alumni players compete against each other in the format of three doubles 8 game pro sets, followed by three full set singles matches. Alumni players are allowed substitutions and, if there is a tie at the end of the match, there will be a match tie-breaker to decide the winners of the event.

“Our guys are excited to compete and get a competitive match in before we head to Orlando for the season opener against Texas Tech (#23),” said Head Coach Ben Dunbar. “We really appreciate the support of the UNM Tennis community and can’t wait to try and beat our fundraising total from last year. Most of all, I’m looking forward to hanging out with former Lobos and the telling of stories when we all get together!”

If you cannot make the event, but you would still like to make a contribution to the team, please click on the link: https://www.unmfund.org/fund/mtennis/ to make a donation to the UNM Men’s Tennis Baseline Club.
