ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — The defending Mountain West Tournament champion University of New Mexico baseball team is also getting the job done in the classroom as the Lobos set a program record for GPA during the Fall 2016 semester with a 3.35.

The mark tops its previous best set during the Spring 2016 semester of 3.26. It’s also the ninth consecutive semester the Lobos have had at least a 3.0 GPA.

The Lobo baseball team and the rest of the UNM department programs combined to post a 3.30 GPA – tied for the second highest in school history. Also, UNM helped the male student-athletes accumulate a 3.13 GPA – tied for the best mark in UNM history.

UNM opens the season Feb. 17 against Binghamton at Santa Ana Star Field.
